The Asus Eee Book is a dual multi-touch color screen e-reader with traditional analogue book styled hinge. Don’t Confuse it with the Asus Eee Pad Tablet, Asus DR-570 E-Reader , or Asus DR-950 E-Reader, these are completely different products. The Asus Eee Book Uses a virtual keyboard, WiFi, 3G and WiMAX for surfing the web unlike any other reader out there. It’s speculated to use a NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip and expected to run Flash applications. Also including a speaker, webcam, microphone, and expandable storage.
SCREEN
Asus showed previews of a dual-touchscreen “Flipbook” notebook at Cebit 2009 in Germany. The company stated that the Flipbook possessed the capability of optionally displaying user interface elements in both screens both horizontally and vertically. The dual screen display would enable users to read books as books were intended to be read, or they could use the secondary panel to surf the web, type on a virtual keyboard or whatever else ASUS dreams up. The Asus Eee Book will be available in 6″ and 9″ inch Dual screen models with a color display.
BATTERY
Reports suggest that the unit would last a whopping 122 hours on a full charge, which is more than enough for most users.
PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
The Asus Eee Reader will become the planet’s cheapest e-book reader. The price is likely to be $163 on its low-end model, and based on the affordability of its Eee PCs. The concept design was renamed as the “Eee Reader”, re-branded as an e-book reader, and scheduled for launch in Q4 2009, which did not happen as intended. Finally, the Eee Reader was rebranded again as the “Eee Book” and scheduled for launch at the June 2010 Computex in Taipei.
